Do you remember the Vic/Tas Tournament of 2013? It was one of the most ambitious roller derby tournaments of recent years, with 16 leagues bouncing from venue to venue, culminating in Derrimut with a 6-league battle and one emerging champion of VRDL Queen Bees.

Long after the The Great Southern Slam, long after its post-tournament 'flu comes and goes for most, one ache can remain: the post-derby blues. As the cold and damp of winter sets in, it's an unwelcome melancholy that is hard to shake off - but it can be done with the one cure known to us all: more derby!

I arrived for my remedy on Saturday the 21st of June with the rest of the crowd at VRDL's home turf of Darebin Community Sports Stadium, for what turned out to be a rather electrifying double header. If you needed another dose of good derby, you were at the right place!

Team Australia announces line-up for World Cup 2014

Cross-posted from my article on RDAU: MELBOURNE, Australia -  On Wednesday 4th December, Team Australia announced, to wide acclaim, the line-up of the nation's best skaters who will compete in the upcoming Blood & Thunder Roller Derby World Cup. The announcement was made exactly one year before the event is to begin in Dallas, taking place over 4 days in December, 2014.
